A customer service officer is responsible for ensuring that customer service reps provide quality customer service experience to the customers. The specific duties of a customer service officer position include supervising customer service associates, evaluating their performance, processing customer service issues escalated by team members, handling customer service issues of premium customers, guiding team members on improving the quality of customer service being provided, providing resources to customer service associates, setting customer service benchmarks for team members, running customer service campaigns and performing other tasks assigned by the customer service manager. A customer service officer typically reports to a customer service manager. A customer service officer should have an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree. Excellent academic credentials may be advantageous. Several years of experience in customer service is essential. Excellent customer service skills are very crucial for a customer service officer role.
