Microsoft’s Bing Search Engine – A New Winner or Old Wine?

When Microsoft revealed its latest attempt at search at the All Things Digital Conference this spring and called it Bing, they went about it quite grandly, calling it not a search engine but a ”decision engine”.

One of Bing’s most successful innovations is the multifunction panel to the left of the page. On Bing in addition to the search results, the panel on the left lists a collection of possible ways to go forward. Bing’s image search does Google one better; Google’s results page can list 50 or maybe 100 results at a time before you have to click on for the next page. Bing gives you one long endless page that goes on as far as it will.  This type of search engines is used for the search engine optimisation .

Google is a mature winner over all; but Bing seems to be on the right track, sensing what consumers need and sensing.
